Beloved son of Kevin and Ester Smith, Jason “J” was born on July 16, 1982 in New Orleans, was a lifelong area resident, and a lover of the city. A graduate of Pope John Paul II High School, J worked as a construction project manager for the family business, serving also as its tremendous IT guy and fixer of all technological issues in a jiffy. Working alongside his parents, J often acted as a voice of reason and brought to the office laughter, fun, and a laid back vibe. J had a contagious laughter. His charming smile and warm eyes lit any room they graced. Rarely spotted without his headphones, he was a true lover of music. J was skilled in the kitchen, often whipping up Honduran family classics and serving meat from the grill. He was a talented writer, frequently scribbling lyrics, and loving notes to his mother. J also greatly enjoyed all things technology & electronics- from work to games to drones, you name it, he could do it! Despite his varied interests, J’s true love was his family. J was tender & kind with his grandmother and mother, and a best friend to his sister Steph. He thought Pops and Jess were chill. J’s heart swelled most, however, in his role as a loving & devoted father. He was often spotted with his boys at his sides, and his girls on his lap and in his arms. He will be sorely missed. Jason is preceded in death by his grandparents Pilar Agurcia and Don & Mary Lou Smith. He is survived by his parents Kevin & Ester; sisters Stephanie (Joe, Alli & Avi) and Jess (Luis); sons Quinlan & Dominik; daughters Melodie (Daddy’s little girl), Kamryn, and Bella; grandmother Aurora Concepción; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins. A full list of the preceding is available upon request. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61051 Brier Lake Drive, Lacombe, LA, on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Visitation will take place in the church hall from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Funeral Mass will follow immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of J be made to an educational fund for his children. Donations can be made to the Jason Smith Fund at any Iberia Bank. ===================
