Lorraine Shephard Smith passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, she was 96 years 
old. 

Lorraine was a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Slidell, La for 37 
years..

Beloved wife of the late Christy J. Smith Sr.
Daughter of the late Rose Collins Shephard and Herbert W. Shephard Sr.
Sister of the late Herbert W. Shephard Jr.
Mother of Christy J. Smith Jr. (Sylvia), Crystal S. Smith (Nick) and Lorraine 
S. Higgins (Don).  

She is survived by seven grandsons, Christy (Karla), Mark Smith, Nicky (Susan), 
Shane, Bradley (Stacy) Smith, Rob and Ryan Higgins, beloved great-grandmother 
(“Maw-Maw”) of 14 great-grandchildren, Trey, Brennan Higgins, Wyatt, Sawyer, 
Cartyr, Waylon Higgins, Ethan, Owen, Hudson Smith, Jackson Smith, Connor, 
Landon Smith, Christy Taylor, Chloe Smith.

She was a retired employee of Registrar of Conveyance Office of the City of New 
Orleans, a member of the Legion of Mary, and an avid supporter in the Krewe of 
Pegasus. Lorraine enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. 
She was devoted to her faith and caring for the sick.

Visitation followed by service will take place at St. Genevieve Catholic Church 
in Slidell, La. beginning at 9:00 A.M on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Mass starts 
at 10:30 A.M.

Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery New Orleans, La.

In lieu of flowers. The family requests masses and donations. May be sent to 
St. Genevieve Catholic Church 58025 St. Genevieve Lane Slidell, La. 70460
