Mary “Juanita” Clements Chanove, passed away peacefully in her sleep on 
Saturday, July 29, 2017, she was 91 years old.

Born in Hammond, LA, grew up in Slidell and spent most of her life in New 
Orleans. She resided in Chalmette until Hurricane Katrina when she relocated to 
Slidell. 

During WWII, she was a tacker at Higgens Shipyard on the PT boats that won the 
war. She was a hair stylist, owned and operated her beauty salon in New Orleans 
for 55 years. 

Daughter of the late William Woodson Clements and Alice Sharpe Clements, 
husband Thomas L. Chanove, Sr., her son Thomas Lawrence Chanove, Jr., brother 
Allen Gilbert Clements, and Sister Rossie Delores Clements McGehee.  

Survived by brother-in-law Jimmy McGehee and sister-in-law Gloria Clements.  
Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Crossgates Blvd, Slidell, LA 
70461on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 12:00 P.M.

Interment will follow in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.

Visitation at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, August 12, 
2017 from 10:00 A.M. until funeral time at 12: P.M.
