Our loving mother, Effie Rahaim Schmersahl, born November 24, 1929, passed to 
the Lord on July 13, 2017.

She was a native of Shweir, Lebanon, who moved to the US in 1948. She married 
Moses Rahaim, who proceeded her in death. She married Herman Schmersahl, who 
proceeded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Kaleel and George Rahaim, 
and a daughter, Vickie Schmersahl.

She is also survived by five sisters, Nadia, Salma, Malaki, Hind, and Aida. She 
is also survived by two brothers, Nijam and Shafiq.

She was a loving grandmother to three grandchildren, Chris, Tracy and Ashley 
and seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was active in her church and in the community. She was a Eucharistic 
Minister and volunteered at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell, 
LA. She also volunteered for over 20 years at Ochsner Hospital. She loved her 
family and friends. No one ever left her house hungry. She raised her family in 
Laurel, MS, moved to Gulfport, MS and finally Slidell, LA.

Visitation will be at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates 
Blvd, Slidell, LA 70461 on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11 AM with a mass of 
celebration following at 1 PM. A reception will follow after the mass.
