"Buddy" Smith, III passed on into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 6, 2017 at the young and vibrant age of 19. He was born July 17, 1997 in Slidell, Louisiana to Janet M. Smith and Charles W. Smith, Jr. of Slidell, LA. Buddy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles "Buddy", Sr. and Arlene Marie Hebbler, both from New Orleans, LA, and his maternal grandmother, Monika M. Myers of Slidell, LA. Buddy is survived by both of his loving parents and his loving stepmother Melissa G. Smith of Houma, LA; four very loving sisters, Kristi Stanford Robinson of McNeill, MS, Skylar MacKenzie Smith of Slidell, LA, Kristen Vuillemont Sanders and Alanna Izaguirre Ellender, both of Houma, LA; maternal grandfather Ralph Myers of Belle View, FL; and many close and loving aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. After graduating from Northshore High School in Slidell and winning a Capital One Scholarship to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA, Buddy attended L.S.U. to pursue a pre-med degree in Kinesiology with an absolute passion and goal to one day help others as a medical doctor in the field of orthopedic surgery. Buddy was an avid lover of Jesus, sports, L.S.U. Football, life, and all of his friends and family. He longed to be with friends. He experienced and accomplished much in such a short period of time...having traveled across much of the United States and visiting/camping at many of the country's great national parks with his cousin Marc Smith. Buddy could not be revived from a tragic accident and head injury, but passed on to the better plans that our Lord has in store for Buddy. Buddy's goal and desire in life was to bring others to Christ and that has been a reality in his passing, through all who he has touched so dearly. In addition, Buddy gave life to others through his passing by selflessly donating his vital organs so that others in need might live on. Buddy will forever live on in our hearts and memories until we join him later in our journeys. Buddy's wake will be held from 5pm until 9pm on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Honaker Funeral Home on Gause Blvd West in Slidell, LA, with additional visitation and his funeral service to take place on Saturday, July 15, 2017 starting at 10am at First Baptist Church on Pontchartrain Drive in Slidell, LA. Pastor Danny Mequet of Church of the King will oversee proceedings for the services. Buddy will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. He was a larger than life person whose heart was as big as he was, and whose personality and kindness was infectious. Everybody loves Buddy! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Buddy's name to Church of the King. Please make payments to Church of the King and place Buddy's name in the check memo field. Your donation will go to the Internship Program, which assists college age students...a worthy cause Buddy would certainly be behind! Checks are to be mailed to Church of the King, 22205 Little Creek Road, Mandeville, LA 70471. www.churchoftheking.com. Arrangements by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell, LA. ===================
