Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2017/st1707.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Evelyn Simpson Talley, born on February 13, 1924 in New Orleans, La., to Claudis W. and Elsie Brink Simpson, died on July 19, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Warren C. Simpson; her beloved husband of 71 years, Theodore B. "Red" Talley, Sr.; her son-in-law, David M. Pearce; and her daughter-in-law, Linda M. Talley. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Talley Pearce (Edward Johnston), Theodore B. Talley, Jr. (Diane G. Meinhardt, fiancé), and Susan G. Talley (James C. Gulotta, Jr.). She also is survived by her grandchildren Mary Louise Talley Duhon (Dale), Elizabeth Talley Pearce (Lee Domingue), Laura Evelyn Talley Roberts (Amber), Emily Talley Pham (Andrew), Kathryn Grace Talley, Theodore Broughton Talley III, Timothy Benjamin Talley and George Edward Gulotta, and by eight great-grandchildren. A resident of St. Tammany Parish since 1929, she and her husband operated Talley's Feed and Seed, Inc. for 39 years. For 60 years, Mrs. Talley was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington, serving for several years as church organist and a trumpet player in the church orchestra. She also taught the four- and five year-olds' Sunday School class for many years and was a member of the Lydia Bible Fellowship class. A 50-year member of the Covington Garden Club, she was a Master Flower Show Judge Emeritus. A life-long learner, she was an accomplished horticulturalist and enjoyed floral design competitions in which she won hundreds of awards. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living honor graduate of Covington High School. She and her husband were early financial guarantors of the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra Covington concerts and were long-time supporters of the St. Tammany Parish 4-H and FFA livestock programs. They enjoyed travel, music, entertaining and leaving their community a better place for others, a legacy they have bequeathed to their children and grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Hwy 1085 Covington, LA 70433. Visitation on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 10:00 AM to service time. Interment in Garden of the Pines Cemetery, Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Covington Garden Club, 323 W. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433 for beautification projects, or to a charity of one's choice. E.J.
