Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2017/st1707.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Kristine Bobbitt Whelan born January 12, 1945 a native of San Diego, California and longtime resident of Slidell and Mandeville, Louisiana entered Heaven’s gates on Sunday, July 9, 2017. During her years as a wife and Mom she was a frequent volunteer at her children’s school. Thereafter, Kris enjoyed an outstanding career which began in the technology manufacturing industry. She soon rose through the ranks to become one of the few female executives for a Fortune 500 company in her field. Kris devoted her life to serving God through her family and friends. Her Grandchildren and Great Nieces and Nephews were her greatest treasures. She was there for all of their big and little days from Awards Nights, to Band performances and athletic events to birthdays and graduations. Kris enjoyed hosting family and friends and her home was always the center for family get togethers and parties. She enjoyed the simple things in life like conversation, love and laughter. She loved to travel, camp and the beach and she loved serving the Lord. She is the founder of the You Are Loved ministry at First Baptist Church of Slidell, which ministers to nursing homes and prisons throughout the Northshore of Louisiana. She served in this ministry and made many wonderful friends whom she loved. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael H. Whelan, her son, Michael H. Whelan Jr. and wife Crystal Whelan of Mounds, Oklahoma, her son Robert Whelan and wife Marianne Whelan of Mandeville, Louisiana; grandchildren Patrick Ramos and wife Sara Ramos, Login Whelan, Matthew Whelan, Alin Whelan, Ashley Whelan and Thomas Whelan; and her great grandson Asher Michael Ramos; her brother John Bobbitt and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Kris is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and IlaBelle Bobbitt. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, Student Center, 4141 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell, LA 70458 on Thursday, July 13. Visitation from 12-1 pm, Service at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to First Baptist Church Slidell to benefit the You Are Loved Ministry and Sunshine Club. Her family and friends treasured every minute of their time with her and were blessed to know her. Her favorite verse was Proverbs 3:4-5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.” E.J.
