Patricia (Patti) Louise Myers Ballance passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 
her home in Covington, LA. 

She was born to the late Henry Myers and Eva Mae Dutruch. 

She was the loving Mother to Christopher Steven Maklary (Renae), Deanna King 
Wehrung (Mark), and Desiree D Wanda King. Patti was the sister to Henrietta 
Myers Addison, Michael Myers, and Deidre Dutruch McMurray. 
She was known as “Nana” to 4 grandchildren and 7 grandchildren who she loved 
dearly. Patti also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and 
cousins.

Patti graduated from Covington High School in 1957 and spent her early adult 
years raising children. The next chapter would lead to Hawaii when she joined 
the Seafarers Union and sailed with American Hawaii Cruise Lines. Patti’s love 
for travel then took her abroad as a Chief Cook on the LNG Ships, Gemini and 
Libra visiting Indonesia, Japan, and Singapore for several years. 
At the age of 70, she found her way back into the kitchen at Pontchartrain 
Elementary School in Mandeville, LA where she would spend the last 8 years 
being known as Miss Patti. 
She touched many hearts and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

As per her wishes, Patti’s ashes will be spread among the Rocky Mountains of 
Colorado, a place full of fond memories. 

Services are private. 

In lieu of flowers the family ask donations to be made in the name of Patricia 
Balance to nokidhungry.org.
