Mark was born in New Orleans, LA on October 28, 1950 to Marie Gazave Dyer and Paul Dyer. He enjoyed his childhood in New Orleans, being raised alongside his dear aunts and uncles by his grandmother and mother. They enjoyed playing games together, going to the movies, and going to church each week. In 1956, he moved to Slidell and graduated from Slidell High School. He played basketball for Slidell High and formed many friendships while there that lasted throughout his life. He then went on to study accounting at LSU. He was drafted into the Vietnam War as an imagery interpreter technician in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Thailand. Upon returning, he resumed his studies at Southeastern Louisiana University and graduated from there. He then began his career as a certified public accountant, and quickly rose to the partner at Frentz, Dyer, and Associates. He was most recently the partner at Dyer and Company LLC with his son, Cliff. Mark was an avid golfer, guitarist, and fisherman, who cherished his two children and three grandsons. He took immense pride in helping people with their businesses and financial questions, taking great joy in seeing them succeed. Throughout his life, he was involved in various community groups, including the Slidell/Louisiana Jaycees, the Slidell Lions Club, the Slidell Boys and Girls Club, and Bethesda Ministries. He used his talents related to finances and working with others to benefit the Slidell community through these organizations. His structured business mind and kind heart allowed him to accomplish all these things alongside a great team of friends, family, and clients who were like family. Mark was the beloved father of Kellie Ainsworth (Richard) and Mark C. Dyer, II (Rachel). He is also survived by his three grandsons, Peyton Ainsworth, Luke Dyer, and Cameron Dyer, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was the former husband of Diana Kessler Dyer. The family would like to thank the staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Slidell Memorial Hospital, and Interim Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Mark’s battle with lung cancer. The Funeral Service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 433 Erlanger Street, Slidell, LA, 70458 on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Visitation at the church will be from 11:00am until 1:00pm, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00pm. Jim Dixon of Bethesda Ministries and Rev.
