Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2017/st1708.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Jeremiah “Jerry” Aloysius Mckenna, age 78 years, of Slidell, LA, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Beloved husband of Mary Ann Crais McKenna for the past 34 years. Father of Amber Victoria McKenna, Jennifer Rose McKenna Haston(Jeremy), the late Michael and Melissa McKenna. Brother of the late William V. McKenna, Jr., Mary Ellen McKenna and Mary Margaret McKenna. Brother-in-law of Barbara M. McKenna and Sandra C. Burke(Len). Also survived by three nephews, William V. “Billy” McKenna,III, L. Clayton “Clay” Burke, Rene Crais, and four nieces, Theresa McKenna Sullivan(Wayne), Mildred McKenna McCord(Loren), Meighan E. Burke and Rebecca Zimmerman. Jerry was born in New York City, grew up in New Orleans and was a resident of Slidell since 1985. A graduate of Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, Jerry served in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Ca. He worked as a printer for the Orleans Parish School Board, retiring after 20 years of service. After retiring, Jerry could often be found helping out at the Slidell Senior Center. Jerry enjoyed going fishing, dancing with his wife, sneaking sweet treats with his daugter, playing cards with friends and catching a good pony race. If it was Sunday, you would find Jerry, a proud “Who Dat” watching the Saints football game on “his” television. Along with 800,000 other Who Dats, Jerry danced in the streets when the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2010. A special thanks to the caregivers of Notre Dame Hospice for the extraodinary care they provided. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass and Celebration of his life at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61030 Brier Lake Drive, Lacombe, LA, on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation at the church on Saturday after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time. Interment will be at the Southeast La. Veterans Cemetery on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in his memory, preferred. U.S. Marines ===================
