Daniel H. Vliet passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the age of 96.

Beloved husband of the late Jane Conery Vliet. Loving father of Janet Vliet 
Tully, Margot Vliet Penner and Daniel H. Vliet IV. Father-in-law of Ron Tully, 
Steve Penner and Sarah Vliet. Grandfather of Christine Tully, Matthew Tully and 
Mark, Amelia Penner, Stephanie and David Strow. Great-grandfather of Jacob 
Strow.

Dr. Vliet was a native of New Orleans and a resident of the Northshore for the 
past twenty-three years. He was a Naval Aviator during World War II and retired 
as a Lt. Commander from the Naval Reserves. He was a Professor of Electrical 
Engineering at Tulane University for 30 years and an active member of the 
Christwood Community for the past twelve years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service in the Atrium 
at Christwood Retirement Home, 100 Christwood Blvd. Covington, LA 70433 on 
Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 7:00 PM followed by a reception.

Interment in Hope Mausoleum was private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Dr. Vliet to be 
made to Habitat For Humanity Covington, LA.
