Mayfield The State of Louisiana Parish of St. Tammany. Know by these presents that we John Talley as principal, and M. G. Crawford as security both of the Parish and State aforesaid, acknowledge ourselves held and firmly bound unto Robert Wickliff, Governor of the State of Louisiana and to his successors in Office, in the just and full sum of One Hundred dollars for the payment of which well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and adminstrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents this 21st day of December A.D. 1859. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound John Talley has this day applied (illegible) license to marry Mary A. Mayfield. Now therefore, if there shall exist no legal impediment or objection to the consumation of said marriage, then and in that case the above obligation to be null and void, else to remain in full force and virtue in law. State of Louisiana Parish of St. Tammany. Be it remembered that on the 22nd of December A.D. Eighteen Hundred & Fifty-nine I James English in & of the Parish aforesaid at the request of the parties did celebrate at the residence of Starling Dixon in said Parish a marriage between John Talley the son of Enoch Talley & Mary Ann Mayfield, daughter of Elija Mayfield. When & where in the presence of the witnesses hereinafter named & undersigned by virtue of the license _______ (illegible) to me by the proper authority & the powers vested in me by law, I did solemnize marriage between the said parties according to the form prescribed by the Methodist Episcopal Church South receiving their consent & declaring them duly united as Husband & wife. In testimony of which the said parties signed hereto together with Angus Banks, John H. Ruddock, & David Talley, competent witnesses residing in the Parish. (signed) Mary Ann Mayfield, John Talley.
