Lewiston Road, Ward 2, Sec 41, T1S, R8E. Across from 20127 E. Lewiston Road. According to the resident at this address there is an old cemetery there, but because of the dense growth of shrubs and weeds, inaccessible. Upon inspection, it would take a great deal of cutting to get to it. It is about 0.2 of a mile west of the Brumfield (Conerly) Cemetery. On a second visit, I learned that Lillian and Willie Brock live at the above mentioned address, and the cemetery is white with perhaps two or three slaves buried there. There are several pine trees that can be seen from the road that mark the cemetery, perhaps 200 to 250 feet from the road. At one time the Conerly family owned this property. J. T. Conerly is probably buried here. (There is a J. T. Connerly Road off South Lewiston Road.) Mrs. Brock indicated there were some headstones in the cemetery, but it hasnít been cared for in about thirty years since the caretaker of it died. Mrs. Brock is a retired school teacher, and Mr. Brock is a retired dairy farmer. He is 75 years of age and wheelchair bound. Mr. Brock owns the property. In addition, he assured me that the correct name for the black cemetery nearby is Conerly also. Part of it is on his land. Belford Carver, October 3 and 7, 2000
