PAINTER JUL 23, 1853 - NOV 30, 1861 ROW 2 1. W.A. PAINTER AUG 11, 1828 - APR 21, 1877 WALLACE A. PAINTER 2. G.A. PAINTER STONE BROKEN-UNREADABLE *************** This cemetery is on the Pone Blades Road. Located in Ward 2, Sec 46, T1S, R8E, on east side of Pone Blades Road, 0.4 of a mile north of LA Hwy 38. Between the road and hay field, about 100 feet to the left of the entrance to the field. Cannot be seen from the road because of the dense bushes and trees. (Pone Blades Road is one mile east of the junction of LA Hwy 38 and LA Hwy 1054.) The Painter Graves are to the right of the gate into the pasture, in the bushes. From a visit by Dave Roddy "The graves are located exactly as you had documented .. but they are quite well concealed. They are located in the stand of brush and bushes on the right hand side of gate entrance but are on the far side (south side) of the stand. The graves are surrounded by an old wire fence, one side of which runs almost along the edge of the south perimeter of the stand. The growth is very thick, especially within the fenced grave area, with lots of thorny vines. It was very difficult (and painful) to move around in there to read the inscriptions and take photos. Also the stones are in rough shape and difficult to read. We only saw two tombstones standing, one for Wallace Painter and the other for Christopher Painter. We also saw four small stones. We could not see any making on one of them. The other three are marked W.A.P, C.C.P., and M.S.P. I assume that the W.A.P. and C.C.P. stones go with the Wallace and Christopher graves." Catherine Sandifer's (w/o Wallace) grave is at Masonic Cemetery, Spring Creek Based on some census data Dave believes that W. A. Painter is Wallace Alexander Painter (may have also gone by Wallis A) and is probably Levi Painter's father (See Beulah Baptist Church). He hasn't found anything on Christopher but believes he was one of their children that died at a young age. Wallace A. Painter acquired 40.13 acres in Section 30 of T1S R8E, which today is at the interections of Hwys 1054 and 38, Ward 2 of the parish, east of Kentwood. Date of transaction Jun 1, 1858.
