PONCHATOULA (BLACK) (BAPTIST) CEMETERY, TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA Recorded and Submitted to the USGenWeb Archives by Belford Carver, May 3, 2001. ************************************************ Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ PONCHATOULA (BLACK) (BAPTIST) Located just east of the Ponchatoula City Limits, off Esterbrook Road, on Cemetery Road. This road runs north then turns east dividing the cemetery in approximately two halves. I was told by a couple cutting the grass that the south side is the"Baptist" side and the north side of Cemetery Road is call the "Methodist" side. Section 17 T7S R8E The two churches are probably New Zion Baptist Church and Tasker Memorial AME Zion. Recorded by Belford Carver, May 3, 2001. The road running north has some graves between it and the drainage ditch running parallel to it.. These are recorded first. Starting at the point of the turn in the road and a drainage ditch, from north to south: Unmarked Unmarked FM: Dan Hannibal Jr., Apr 16, 1968 - Feb 10, 1989 Survey marker and iron stob. The drainage ditch has been opened with lots of dirt piled up on the cemetery side. Beginning at the south entrance to the cemetery, recording those graves south and east of the gravel lane running through the cemetery. If there is no mention of the grave being above ground, then it would be in the ground. FM is for funeral marker. AG is above ground. ID is no identification of the person buried there.
