THOMPSON FAMILY PLOT, Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana Submitted to the LaGenWeb Archives by Debbie Cutrer Powers, July, 1997. ************************************************ Copyright. It's a handmade stone about 5 ft. tall and painted white. At the base is the names and dates. One on each side. This Jeremiah Thompson was from the Carolina's. He served in the Civil War. We are working on getting him a War marker in his memory. There seems to be more graves at this site, but have no proof of them. It is located in the middle of the woods. Their children are scattered all through the country side. Many are buried in long lost cemeteries, that I've found. ************************************************ Update: June, 2005 The family in question is my ggggggrandparents. It would have been impossible for Jeremiah from the Carolina's to have served in the civil war he was dead before 1861. I believe Debbie Powers means his son. The Jeremiah from the Carolina's arrived prior to the Florida Parish rebellion and the acceptance of the Florida Parishes into the Union. He was one of the orignal settlers to the area. His roots in the US go back to 1624. Sandra Anderson
