CRANE, deputy recorder in and for the Parish of Tangipahoa, State of Louisiana aforesaid, duly commissioned and sworn, and in the presence of witnesses hereinafter named and undersigned, personally came and appeared Alonzo BICKFORD of the Parish of Tangipahoa State of Louisiana who did declare and say that he does. By these presents, grant, bargain, sell, convey, transfer, assign and set over, with full guarantee against all troubles, debts, mortgages, claims, evictions, donations, alienations, or other encumbrances, whatsoever; unto Charles E. CATE also a resident of said Parish and State here present accepting purchasing for himself his heirs and assigns and acknowledging possession and delivering of the following described property to wit, a certain piece of ground with the improvements thereon situated at Hammond and known as square no. 7 as per plot of Town drawn by N. F. HZER surveyor. It being the same piece of ground acquired by this binder and D. J. (HARVEY, HARVEZ)? By purchase from the present purchaser in April 1867 as per act passed upon recorder of Livingston Parish and by him recorded. For the past two years it has been occupied by Abe? GARNEZ, Esq. And is now known as the Garney place. To have and to hold the said land unto the said purchaser his heirs and assigns, to their proper use and behoove forever. And the said vendor for himself his heirs and assigns the said land unto the said purchaser his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant and forever defend against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever, by these presents hereby subrogating the said purchaser to all the rights and actions of warranty he may have against his own vendor or against all preceding vendors, with full power and authority to exercise the same according to law. This sale is made for and in consideration for the price and sum of five hundred ($500) dollars cash in had paid the recít of which is hereby acknowledge and full acquittance given. Certificate of mortgage waived by the parties. Taxes all paid to date. Thus done and passed at Hammond parish aforesaid, in the presence of C.H. MOONEY (?) and E. F.
