H. Bankston, Sheriff, to John Welsh State of Louisiana Parish of Washington Whereas I Levi H. BANKSTON, Sheriff of the Parish of Washington by Virtue of a writ of _____ ______ to me directed against the goods and chattels land and tenements of Micajah RICE at the Suit of Wm HOUSE and Samuel HYDE did Seize upon Fifty acres of land lying on the waters of Big Creek bounded on the East South and West by land of John WELSH and on the North by Vacant Land and having exposed the same to public sale according to law John Welsh became the purchaser thereof for the price of twenty-six dollars upon twelve month credit with five per cent interest from the twenty eighth day of August AD 1839 until paid and the Said John Welsh having given his obligation with James D. Welsh as Security - the payment of which is Secured by a Special Mortgage upon the land Sold. Now therefore Know all men by these presents that I the Said Sheriff do in Consideration of the Promises and by Virtue of the act in such cases made and provided Grant bargain Sell assign and Set over to the Said John Welsh his heirs and assigns the above described land and all the right title interest and demand which the Said Micajah Rice had on the twenty Eighth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine as at any time has had in or to the said claim or any part thereof to hold the same to the said John Welsh his heirs and assigns forever. InWitness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 31st day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Thirty nine and in the Sixty- fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America.
