P. Bankston, No. 174 State of Louisiana, Parish of Washington: Be it remembered that on this, twelfth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty-four and the Seventy Eighth of American Independence in the presence of the undersigned Witnesses I Peter BANKSTON of the aforesaid state and Parish have bargained sold transferred and delivered unto Young P. BANKSTON also of this Parish him present and accepting for himself his heirs and assigns etc. a certain tract of Land containing Three hundred and twenty acres more or Less together with all the ways privileges and advantages thereon or in any wise appertaining thereunto. The Same lying and being in the Parish and State aforesaid. Situated on Big Creek bounded as follows To wit: White Spring land East Spring North Public land West and South by lands of Spencer M. BANKSTON the land here specified as the land of S. M. Bankston and the half section above it both making one section and known as the headright of Church Dixon transferred by said Dixon to Stephen CHANCE and in later days is Known as the CHANCE place etc. For and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred Dollars to be paid in the following manner to wit: One hundred dollars on the first day of March next two hundred dollars first of January 1855 and two hundred dollars on the first day of January 1856 (for the payment of which the purchaser has brought forward his promissory notes) bearing date with this instrument. I do by these Presents warrant and defend the right of Said land unto him the said purchaser his heirs and assigns from me my heirs and assigns and from all persons whomsoever having any legal right title or claim to the same. Then intervened the wife of the vendor Tabitha BANKSTON in the presence of the undersigned witnesses who acquiesced in the foregoing sale Voluntairly assigning her name to said transfer.
