All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ Old Deeds of Washington Parish, as copied and sent to Tangipahoa Parish when it was formed: Volume 1, pages 51-53 Tabitha Bankston to Reddick Sibley, No. 98 The State of Louisiana Parish of Washington before me Benjamin Richardson Parish Judge and exoficio Notary Public in and for the same on this the thirteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six and of the independance of the United Staes of America the sixty first personally came and appeared Mistress Tabitha Robinson of lawful age and wife of Peter Bankston of this Parish and State the said Peter Bankston also present aiding and assisting and authorizing in the Promises to full effect and validity there of and the said Miss Bankston having bin seperately and a part from her said husband fully advised by me the judge aforesaid of the full extent of her rights and privelages over the property of her said husband declared that where as her aforesaid husband Peter Bankston did on the eight day of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six by act Passed passed before me the Judge afforesaid sell and convey to Reddick Sibley of the same Parish and State a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being situated in this Parish on Big Creek bound South by lands of William L. Sibley north east and west by vacant land containing six hundred and forty acres more or less being the same tract of land which her afforesaid husband Peter Bankston acquired by donation from the Goverment of the United States as an actual settler and not having signed satisfied nor anounced her dower rights to said sail and now desireous of notifying and confirming said conveyance and divesting herself of all rights which she has on said land and Improvements by mortgage or otherwise wherefore, she declared that she does by these presants satisfy and confirm the sail maid of said land by her said Husband on the eight day of July in the year of our Lord 1836 and does by these presents sell convey cede and transfer unto the said Reddick Sibley and the holder or holders of said land all the right title Claim interest and ____ which she has in or to the said land by reason of any cause whatever hereby binding her self and her heirs at all times to acknowledge sustain whole valid and binding in Law the said sail made as afforesaid on the eight day of July 1836 and the ratify action which she now makes of the same the formen. sale was in for an inconsideration of the sum of one hundred dollars cash in hand paid the receipt of which is acknowledged by this appearer. done and passed at my office in the Parish afforesaid on the day month and year first above written and said appearers have signed their names in the presents of Archoleus Addison and William L. Sibley citizens of lawful age of this Parish who have also signed with me said Judge Mrs. Bankston not knowing how to write signed by making her usual mark.
