All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ Old Deeds of Washington Parish, as copied and sent to Tangipahoa Parish when it was formed: Volume 1, pages 123-124 Bradshaw Estate to John Robertson State of Louisiana Parish of Washington: Be it Known and remembered that on this the twenty fifty day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty three and of the Independence of the United States of America the Sixty Seventh I Benjamin Richardson Judge of said Parish and Exoficio Auctioneer in and for Same pursuant to an order from Probate Court herein, also in accordance with the deliberation of a family meeting, relatives of Minor heirs of Mrs. Frances Bradshaw regularly _____ proceeded to the residence of the late Mrs. Frances Bradshaw on Big Creek in the Parish of Washington to Make Sale of part of the property belonging to the Succession of the Dec'd on twelve Months Credit for notes and approved Security -- And a Mortgage on the Real Estate until the final payment -- having first given due and legal notice of the Sale by advertising according to law -- and having exposed the undivided half of the ROBERTSON tract of land situated of the East side of the River Tangipaho and bounded North by the heirs of Pierce South by Smith East by Vacant Land and West by the River Tangipaho Containing Six hundred and forty acres more or less together with all the improvements thereon and after the Various offers and bids John ROBERTSON being the last and biggest bidder became the purchaser thereof for the price of three hundred dollars on a Credit of twelve Months. For which amount the Said purchaser has given his joint promissory note of same date herewith payable to Stephen Van Allen and Benj. Bradshaw Administrators for the Estate of Francis Bradshaw as curator for Susan Elizabeth Anne Van Allen Minor heirs of the Said Mrs. Bradshaw and for ________ for Francis Ann, minor daughter of Dec'd born of her in Marriage with the Said Bradshaw and the Said Administrators now declare that in consequence of the foregoing adjudication they do by their presents grant bargain sell assign and set over the above undivided tract of land to the Said purchaser his heirs and assigns Warranting the title to the Same to be free from any liens or claims whatever the purchaser the better to secure the final payment of Said note at Maturity hereby mortgages and Hypothecates the land herein sold until the payment of Said note which note is to be identified with the Said act - has been paraphed by me Said Judge. It appears by the Certificate of the Recorder of Mortgages of this Parish that the land herein Sold is free from any Mortgage Registered against the Same. Done and passed and the parties have Signed their names in the Presence of Hardy Richardson and Jno. T. Sibley lawful witnesses of this Parish -- have also Signed their names with me said Judge. B.
