Mr. Jackson was proprietor of a jewelry store on East Thomas Street beginning in 1895. The home is now occupied by the Bignar family. Recalled is the former pretentiousness of the house when it was constructed, and the voluminous library in the home containing numerous leather bound books. Mrs. Jackson was a semi-invalid using a wheel chair in her later years. The Jacksons, originally from England, were the parents of two sons, Cedric, and Jimmy (James) Jackson. Cedric was married to the former Miss Elsa Streeck, who was the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Charles Streeck, and sister of Miss Ray Streeck of Hammond. She now resides in New Orleans with her son, Cedric. Her daughter, Gertrude is deceased. (From ECHOES FROM THE ATTIC AND POEMS, II, 1967, by Edna F. Campbell) (Pic LANDMARK HOME ..a 2-story one)
