The house was built for John Settoon, the founder of the Settoon store. Other generations born and reared in the old house were his son, John Sheldon Settoon, both were senators. Following were V. E. Settoon, the third generation, and next V. E. Settoon, Jr., who now resides in his home adjoining the Settoon store grounds. The front porch features bannister railings and small rounded posts accented with filigree work and etched facings. The two-story structure is painted white and has been well preserved. A wide hallway typical of early architectural trends separates the reception rooms, the bedrooms and extends to the family room and kitchen which has been modernized by the present owners, the James L. Burchfields. (From ECHOES FROM THE ATTIC, IX, 1976, by Edna Campbell) (Pic of the home)
