Van Vrancken home, named "Van's Azaleas Acres". The house is 90 years old and is a raised Louisiana colonial type. Surrounding the home are about 105 dogwood trees and hundreds of camellias and azaleas. The home is completely furnished in rare antiques and period furnishings collected by Miss Gladys Van Vrancken. Adding to the interest in the home are the stained glass windows from an old church in New Orleans. Many treasured items of furnishings are noted including a hand carved walnut early period mantel from an old New Orleans home, and an old period hand carved walnut sofa with intricate carved designing. The master bedroom features a hand carved bed of mahogany, a four poster empire, from the period 1820-1840. A Dresden clock and a pair of candlesticks of the 1800s are added treasurers. The guest bedroom includes a mantel with French bisque figurines. (From ECHOES FROM THE ATTIC, IX, 1976, by Edna Campbell) (Pic of Miss Gladys)
