FOOTBALL TEAM Excellent Supper Served Team and Townspeople at Bradley Hall by Episcopal Guild That the citizens of Ponchatoula have the interest of their children at heart Was demonstrated last Friday night when more than one hundred representative townspeople gathered at Bradley Hall at a Banquet served in honor of the Ponchatoula High School Green Wave, which team won third place in the high school football association. Sam Watts, who has been a very active of the football team acted as toast master and after a short talk called on Mayor Haight, Dr. Trellue, Professor Pittman, "Pete" Leonard, Coach Vaughan, Preston Hughes, City Clerk Parker, A. M. Edwards, Jr., and Captain Will-Ed Butler for short talks all of which proved to be very interesting. The fathers of the players were called upon for some expressions and by common consent elected Rev. H. T. Comish to talk for them. This was followed by the presentation of a beautiful watch to Coach Vaughan in appreciation of the hard work which he had accomplished in making the Ponchatoula Green Wave one of the most prominent in the state. Young Ridgdell, Ponchatoula's Star Fullback was elected Captain of the team for the coming year and Kenneth Richardson was elected assistant. May expressions of praise were given former Capt. Butler who leaves the school this year, for his magnificent work in gaining recognition for the team and a hope was expressed that he be even more successful on some college team next year.
