The senior's name is listed, town they live in, a quotation related to them, a write up about each person and organizations to which they belonged.) SENIORS ADMEL PERRIN ELLZEY -- Ponchatoula, La. "Some one said it couldn't be done, But he, with a chuckle, replied, That maybe it couldn't, but he would be the one, Who wouldn't say so till he tried." Admel comes from Mississippi but no matter where he hails from, P. H. S. is glad to own ands claim him as one of her sons. Ad, is not a showy sort of fellow, but on the football team he is our flashy center. He has also proved himself an all-around student by his record in basket ball in addition to his unusual scholastic record. We can truly predict a happy and successful future. Captain of basket ball team; President of Senior Class. LILLIAN MARIE ORDOYNE - Ponchatoula, La. "Her character of which we boast, makes her remembrance dear." Meet Miss "Lillian", Vice-President of the Senior Class. For one so small of stature she carries the dignity and responsibility remarkably well. Lillian has endeared herself to every one with her sweet disposition. "Lil" makes up deficiency in size by efficiency in leadership. Lillian's ability to put things over has made her indispensable to P. H. S and the Class of '26. We are backing you up, "Lil", no matter what your venture in the world may be, anyway we know you will be a true representative of "ole P. H. S". Vice Pres. of Senior Class; Vice Pres. of Home Ec. Class; Associate Editor of "Green Back"; Typist. JULES AUGUST YOKUM - Ponchatoula, La. "Loyal hearted, strong in mind, A finer boy no where you'll find." "Peggy" Yokum, at first glance, seems to be bashful but we have heard that his success with the fair damsels is phenomenal. We don't feel like we can leave this out, -- the honor of being Ponchy's most popular boy. It is impossible to give an account of "Peggy's" activities during the last four years. But, we his schoolmates know him and we ask that these scattering remarks may serve as a testimonial that we do know him. "Peggy" leaves high school with quite an enviable scholastic record behind him. With laudable distinction of having faced squarely any obligation by which he was confronted. Football '23, '24, '25; Basket Ball '24, '25 and '26; Secretary and Treasurer of Senior Class. THOMAS MERLIN RAY -Ponchatoula, La. "All that's handsome, all that's clear, All that's foolish, all that's dear." "Jelly" is noted for his light hair and brown eyes. This combination must make a hit with the ladies, for he is always seen with them. To like him you must know him because one would naturally get the impression that being so handsome he would be conceited, which is not true. Merlin easily makes friends and he has won the love of all his classmates and every one of us hates to see him leave if the rumor is true that he is going away. Not that we are in the least of doubt about his success because we are sure that nothing else can await him. No matter where you go, Merlin, remember that our love and hopes are with you. Football '25; Dramatics '25, '26; Business Manager of Senior Class. SUSIE MARY ADAMS - Ponchatoula, La. "She does not only do it good, But she does it in the right way." Susie entered P. H. S. as a senior this year. She has won a large place in the hearts of both the teachers and the students and is a whole-hearted girl, very studious and clever. She has a wonderful literary ability and has won many friends. Due to her persistence and dependability, we do not fear the future for her. Success to you, Susie, wherever you may go. ANGIE BALL - Ponchatoula, La. "Her quiet ways and faithful work, Are sermons in all who shrink." Mental vigor is a dangerous asset to a girl in the eyes of man. Angie possesses a countless number of desirable qualities, chiefly noted for her integrity, her strong intellect, and her services have been indispensable to the annual as Business Manager. Angie is a good friend to all who know her and with her big, generous heart she has won their confidence and friendship. We have no fear but that success is written on her brow and that sometime in the near future she will be reckoned as a shining star in the commercial world. Business Manager of Green Back. FRANCIS AMELIA BARTHE - Ponchatoula, La. "She's busy, she's planning, she's jolly all the time, That's why we all say, "She's a friend of mine'." "Frank" was determined to gain knowledge to help along her refined and dignified air, so she started at Ponchy Hi, as a freshman in 1922. Her affectionate nature and unselfish character have won for her the friendship and love of teachers and students. She has prepared herself well to make Eustace's life and home happy, since she is one of the most prospective Home Economics seniors who has ever gone out of P. H. S. There is no doubt that her ambition will be crowned with success and a goal of happiness awaits her. Tennis Club; Business Mgr. of Radio; Sec., Treas. of Home Ec. Club. MILDRED MARIE BOURGEOIS - Ponchatoula, La. "M is for Mildred, whose sweetness and grace, In the heart of each schoolmate has found her place." Mildred, that quiet, modest, shy little creature whom you may call "Midgie", has lofty aims and a high ambition in life. Though not very large physically she is a "giant in intellect." Her closest companions are text books, of which mathematics is her specialty. She is a normal girl, essentially French, always aglow with friendliness and happiness, but still with a quaint sweetness and dainty charm of old-fashioned flowers. So here's to you Mildred, -- as you give to the world the best that is in you, may the best come back to you. Senior Rep. for Green Back; Typist. ETHEL MAE BUCHANAN - Ponchatoula, La. "Happy and from care I'm free; Why aren't other content like me?" We remember Ethel as one of the happy, care free girls of our class. Her ready smile helped along by a willing and generous nature. Her friendliness and kindness has won her many friends and her willingness to help her efficiency and wit has made her indispensable to us. Besides being a good scholar Ethel is a good athlete and participates mainly in basket ball, in which she is one of our flashy centers. Though being small, she is everywhere at one time. Basket Ball '24, '25, '26. HESTER MOLLYE BURNS -Ponchatoula, La. "So studious, so artless as every one knows, She captivates hearts wherever she goes." Serene, calm and unruffled, with never a rumpled dress, with never a hair out of place, with never a shining nose, --"Toots" presents a pleasing exterior to her schoolmates. Nor odes her exterior belie her character, for she has a calm, serene disposition. We remember "Toots" as always having Radio work on her hands, a basket ball game, or a date with Howard. We do not know what she intends to do with her life; we think perhaps that she will put her literary talent to some advantage, by working on a newspaper. But no matter what she chooses "Success" is hers, and we know that her future will be a shining road, lined with the love of many friends. Basket ball '24, '25, '26; Dramatics '26; Editor-in-chief of Radio. WILLIAM EDWARD BUTLER - Ponchatoula, La. "It is better to love what you cannot have, Than to have what you cannot love." His character is that of a leader, and all his affairs, he rules with a steady hand and an a most business-like manner. "Billy" is one of our best loved students. His happy nature and cheery laugh are infectious to all who are near him, and along with these his wonderful personality has won him many friends. As an athlete he has no superior in state high circles. In football, basket ball and track a wonderful future is predicted for him in college, in this field, by competent judges who have seen him play. May success be yours, Will Ed, and guide you smoothly along life's rocks. Football "24, '25; Basket Ball '24, '25, '26; Track '24, '25, '26. ALICE MAE COMISH - Ponchatoula, La. "She talks from morn 'till night, Ye gods, she talks with all her might." Act I. Enter "Sissy" - Freshmen, gay, carefree, and out for a good time. Act II. Enter Alice Mae - Sophomore, with "many honeyed phrases, for her teachers when she had not prepared her lesson, and still has a good time. Act III. Enter "Sissy" - Junior, ever late for class, giving her usual Ha! Ha! And in school or out still having a good time. Act IV. Enter - Senior, still tripping on the light fantastic toe, but learning to pull together with her class. >From her athletic dreams of the future, we would prophesy that she's going to have a better time than ever before, and we know that success awaits her. Tennis Club; Dramatics '25, '26; Basket Ball '24, '25, '26; Radio Staff. HUGH TUCKER COMISH - Ponchatoula, La. "The smile that bubbles from the heart, That loves its fellowmen Will drive away the clouds of gloom And coax the sunshine in." Hugh has a good mind even if his teachers do accuse him of not using it very much. He is genial, jolly, and of a very teasing nature. His poetical qualities are shown in his being class poet. May the height of his success be equal to his physical height, and his future be a happy one. Hugh's love of teasing has won the love of all the students and also the faculty. If he follows the profession of farming we know that Hugh will make a good one because his knowledge of farming is invaluable to the pupils who intend to take up this vocation. Football '24, '25; Class Poet. HATTIE MAE EARNEST - Ponchatoula, La. "She is look'd for and call'd for, Ask'd for and sought for." In Hattie, old P. H. S. has one of it best daughters,--a girl of strong character, marked literary ability, and broad vision. And this broad vision she expresses through her constant chatter and sometimes serious argument. Hattie also possesses the ability to play among the hearts of her associates for wherever she may turn she always greets and is greeted by a friendly smile. We leave the future into her hands and do not fear the outcome. Dramatics '23, '24, '25, '26; Tennis club; Radio Staff; Editor-in-chief of Green Back; Senior Class Reporter. PETER JOHN EBRECHT - Ponchatoula, La. "Let the world slide, I'll not budge an inch." Let us introduce to you the most intelligent senior of '26. Peter likes to study Math. Although he hates to study shorthand, Ebrecht's greatest habit is arguing with Miss Smith, about dropping Typing or Shorthand. The frown on Peter's face is assumed here, to show dignity, to uphold his dignified state. Peter in known as Ponchy' s Most Intelligent, and rightly does he fill this position because without Peter's brains what would we do? We are sure that no matter what profession Peter undertakes, be it "Chemistry" teacher or Civil Engineer, we know his success is assured. Business Manager Radio. BRUCE EMILE GAUGE - Ponchatoula, La. "A taste for wine, an eye for a maid, Never too bold, never afraid." To play tennis well requires infinite patience, clear judgment, a spirit of fair play, and a sense of honor, the qualities of a sportsman, as it were, only doubled and redoubled. For every dance or party Bruce is ready although his "dough" is not. Tennis is not the only athletics in which he indulges but has his fingers in every pie and he is a good basket ball and football player. Bruce has a wonderful personality and his good nature makes him one of our best loved fellow students. His good looks makes him popular with the ladies and always in demand for our plays. Basket Ball '25 and '26; football '24 and '25; Tennis; dramatics. MAJORIE ELENOR GIBSON - Ponchatoula, La. "Little Irish Colleen, with a little Irish brogue, And as sweet as they make 'em. Sure it is Margie we're speaking of, with her happy ways and cunning personality. She is kind, true and interesting, and a good pal. She has prepared to make some man's life and home happy. But the class of '26 is proud of you, Margie, and our hearts are with you wherever you may go. Dramatics, '26. ALINE MAE GROFF - Ponchatoula, La. "Not to love, is not to live." Full of pep! That's Aline and it is not without cause that we say it. In everything she does, we see it manifested. She excels in sports and as cheerleader for our football team has won a place in the hearts of all who know her. We are sure that with her personality and many accomplishments Aline will always have a host of fiends and will make a success in any path that her life may lead her, but we have a hunch that it will be in the matrimonial field. Basket Ball, '23, '24, '25, '26; Person Editor of Radio; Tennis Club, Cheerleader. HELEN LILLIAN HEINRICH - Ponchatoula, La. "Original wit, a heart of gold, A head to fit, are her's we're told." Only the great-hearted can be true friends. Quiet and unassuming is she, yet so kind- hearted that one immediately recognized in her a true friend and one that can be trusted. Her practicability will be useful to her future vocation, --that of nurse. We are sure that her great amount of patience will help her very much along this line. Even if Helen changes her mind from this profession we know that she will succeed. And if "love" alone will get you anywhere, then Helen will "get there" because she knows that we are backing her. Dramatics, '25; Treasurer of Tennis Club. NIVA CONNIE HOWES - Ponchatoula, La. "Her modest looks the cottage might adorn." Connie is the best of pals and is all that can be desired in a woman. She has gone through "thick and thin" with us and is now passing out triumphantly with the class of '26. The above quotation fits in with our predictions perfectly and we feel that Niva will always be one of P. H. S.'s first class boosters. We don't think that "Connie" will ever have a chance for an independent career, because she is the wifey type. Luck, to you "Connie", may your life be as happy and carefree as your school life has been. Dramatics, '26. GLIRMA MARIE LANDRY - Springfield, La. "An everlasting combination of Friendliness and fun." Glirma enter our class in our Junior year, but she brought sunshine into our lives and won innumerable friends among both sexes. We are sure the Ponchy girls will miss Glirma's little French songs she often sang to them. Due to her wonderful ability in this line she expects for win fame some day. We hope you much success, Glirma. Dramatics, '26. SYLVAIN ROBERT LOUPE - Ponchatoula, La. "For every question, he has an opinion, For every opinion, a question." Sylvain entered our class this year as a senior. He was immediately taken into the hearts of each member of the class by his genial personality and ever ready wit. Loupe, as he is most familiarly known, took part in all athletics and helped to make our football season a success. His abundant knowledge of chemistry is a credit to our class. We know that Sylvain's future will do credit to our school and we wish him everlasting success and happiness. Football '25; Basket Ball '26; Track '26. LUCILLE LOUISE MARMILLION - Ponchatoula, La. "Her countenance is the very portrait of her mind." Lucille hides beneath the stern exterior of a most husky normal gymmer, the softest of hearts, and a most genial warmth prevades the atmosphere about her. A keen mind, a ready wit and an eloquent tongue are most excellent traits to possess, and a front, open nature keeps them all in constant use. Lucille excells in basket ball but is also very good at other sports. "Lou" as she is known by all, is all that could be desired for a friend. We wish her all success and happiness possible in the future. Basket Ball '23, '24, '25, '26. OLAS FRANCIS OLSEN - Ponchatoula, La. " His joys are as deep as the ocean, And his troubles as light as the foam." There is no such word as "worry" in "Peanuts" vocabulary, and he is the most good- natured boy you ever say. Seemingly so careless and indifferent does he appear at times that even his teachers remark that they wish they could make him angry. But no such luck, for no matter how offending the speech or how difficult the task, "Peanuts" comes to up smiling through it all. Although Olas has no definite aim as yet, we are sure that he will make a success in anything that he undertakes. Go to it, Olas, our luck is with you! Football '24, '25; dramatics '24, '25. VIOLA MARIE ORDOYNE - Ponchatoula, La. "Better be off with the old love, Before you are on with the new." Viola is of P. H. S. 's numerous flappers. Her activeness and wittiness along with her constant chatter and eagerness to make friends has won her many. Everybody likes Viola for no reason than her own dear self. It is hardly believable that one so small in stature could assume such great dignity and acquire such a vast store of knowledge. Wise was the man that said: "Great thing come in small bundles." Viola's greatest ambition is to become a dancer, and if she keeps the pace she is now going we are sure her dreams will be realized. Luck to you, "Vi". Dramatics '24, '26. ARTHUR MACDONALD PALMER - Ponchatoula, La. "A good athlete and understood, while in his books he's just as good." "Red" is one of our best football players, being our flashy "Right End". He is one of the most teasing and yet one of the best loved Seniors of our class. His ready smile and jokes along with his quick temper which often flashes, makes him invaluable to us. Although Arthur is a Senior he has not completely conquered his timidness. But it is rumored that "Red" will be a "Civil Engineer", and among the natives, since it is supposed he is going to South America, he will not need shiekish ways. We would hate to lose "Red", but if he is determined to go so far away, we can see nothing but success for him and if our love and hopes for luck will help him, --here is a generous supply from all. Football '24, '25, '26. HAZEL PEMBLE - Ponchatoula, La. "Somewhere, we know from the gold of the sun, God caught a ray of its shining so true, Held it all lovingly, then let it blow, >From the infinite, deep in the heart of you." She who brings sunshine into the lives of others certainly reveals the quality of her heart by her smiles. This favorite senior has an undisputed place in the heart of every one at P. H. S. "Hady" has a charming personality but we believe the secret of her popularity is that she is a "real girl" made of the "real-honest-to-goodness" stuff. There is an unmistakable twinkle in her eyes; it is just her sunny disposition peeping out. Hazel does not lack sincerity, nor ability, and a more earnest student is not to be found. Class Prophet; Dramatics '25; Exchange Editor on Radio Staff; Tennis. LUCILLE EARNESTINE POCHE - Ponchatoula, La. ""Still water runs deep." Lucille is the exception that proves that all women may make their presence known not by the exercises of their tongue, but by the quiet presence of their personality. This fact is evident as she is numbered among the few who are regularly attendants of school and has her work done every day, even though she is never willing to get up and recite. She is serious-minded enough to be trust-worthy and mischievous enough to be lovable. Good luck to you Lucille, our love will be with you always. LEVI BENJAMIN ROBINSON - Ponchatoula, La. "Not too serous, not too gay, But a rare good fellow when it comes to play." Levi is that type which is very rare. He can assume seriousness or he can be gay. Then again, a more conscientious person is not to be found. Levi has helped our civics class wonderfully by his vast knowledge of local government. His taking part in athletics, especially in football, has helped Ponchy go through an undefeated season. Football '23, '24, '25. VIOLA MARIE ROBILLARD - Ponchatoula, La. "To know her is to love her." Viola radiates efficiency from the top of her pretty brown curly hair to the tips of her shining shoes. That efficiency coupled with a generous nature and loving heart is as much as any one could desire. Viola did not come to us until '25, in our Senior year, but we love her none the less for it, except we think that had she come earlier we would have all profited by it. Viola has the softest of hearts, and is kindness itself. This has won for her the love and friendship of everyone she meets. We think that Viola can hold only one position and that of being a "Wife" of some man. Viola can take that to perfection, joy, and success will forever be with her. RUBY ORIS STRICKLAND - Ponchatoula, La. "Modest and beautiful is she A truer friend hath no man." Here is a girl who always greets you with a smile and a helping hand and a happy disposition. She is a little reserved and very modest, but not too much to keep her from having many friends. Ruby started her high school career in '22 at the same time with most of us and has always been what she is now. Her olive complexion and black curls are a charm which is hardly possessed by any other girl in Ponchy Hi and we're sure she is envied by many of her friends for her attraction, --especially to the male sex. Dramatics '26. OLEY DANIEL TUCKER - Ponchatoula, La. "Is interested in brainy things, namely, himself." Did you ever see the equal of "Caesar?" We never have. He certainly cannot be equalled in his ability to argue. We understand that he comes by it honestly and we think none-the-less of him for it. Through his keen intellect he holds a high place in scholarship at old P. H. S. and we predict for him a brilliant future as Daniel Webster II. Dramatics '26.
