Charles Van Vrancken was elected vice-president of the Elementary section of the Louisiana Health and and (sic) Physical Education department of the Louisiana Teachers association at the meeting held in New Orleans, Monday. Leslie L. Spinks was elected Director of Dictrict (sic) No. Four of the Louisiana Music Education association and Richard Clanton was one of the principle speakers on the subject "Teaching Problems and Procedures" in the Commercial Education division. Mr. T. H. King, contractor, has just completed a new garage for Mrs. Wm. Schuhle. We are glad to welcome the Rev. H. T. Carley back to his pulpit in Ponchatoula. Henry sort of gets pleasantly under you skin and he would have been greatly missed had he been transferred. Ned Richardson of Camp Wheeler, (Macon, Ga.,) has been home on a nine-day furlough. He expects to leave Thursday afternoon of this week. Roland Huson arrived in town this week to supervise the laying of the sidewalks and pavement for the city. He is designated as the "resident engineer." Mr. Huson stated that he expected the paving to get under way next Monday, November 24. Smith Guthrie, our night policeman, unearthed a mured (sic) committed some 14 years ago in Texas and as a result arrested John Thomas, colored, who has been a resident of Ponchatoula for the past 13 years and is holding him for the Texas authorities. Delafield Sullivant, who was injured in an automobile wreck the latter part of October, is reported to be in an improved condition. The leg, which was broken in two places, has not been set as yet, according to his father. J. D. Raiford and family of Lee-s Landing have purchased one of the Sutton homes in the southeast section of town and moved into the city. We welcome them to Ponchatoula. Jim Hunter was a Ponchatoula visitor Monday on his way to Mississippi. Mr. Hunter stated that he had brought Mrs. Hunter with him to visit her mother, Mrs. Julia M. Ray, who will celebrate her 86th birthday next Monday. Join The Red Cross
