DEATH OF MRS. W. S. GOODWIN

When the word was given out Sunday that Mrs. W. S. Goodwin, of Arcola, was 
dead, the sombre mantle was spread over Roseland, Amite and Arcola, as the 
deceased was widely known and loved in this community. She was reached 
nearly her 75th year, and while she was not confined to her bed her health 
was so precarious that all hopes of the family had abandoned for some time. 
She evidently realized her condition and had prepared and made known the 
details of her funeral, and quietly passed away at the home of her son, Jos. 
K. Whittington, at 4 o'clock, p. m.

Mrs. Goodwin was formerly Mrs. Whittington and four children were the result 
of this union, as follows: Jos. K. Whittington, Arcola; Harry K. 
Whittington, Opelousas, La.: Mrs. D. Eldridge Rivers, of New Orleans.

The funeral obsequies were conducted at the Arcola-Union church. Monday at 3 
o'clock p. m., by the Rev. W. H. Perkins, of Amite, in an impressive manner, 
paying a glowing tribute to the memory of the deceased. Beautiful hymns were 
rendered by a quartette. The pall-bearers were: I. H. Wands, W. D. Hendry, 
P. Boyle, A. C. Germanp, E. D. Riechert and G. W. Watson. A large cortege of 
friends followed the body to the burial grounds. - Roseland Record - Herald.

NOTE: Mary A. Kittridge Goodwin is buried at the Arcola-Roseland Cemetery 
located in Arcola, Tangipahoa Parish, LA.
