McKeithen Millard B. McKeithen died on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at his residence. He was 60, a native of Ranger, TX and a resident of Pine Grove. He was a welder and a veteran of U.S. Nave. Religious services were held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pine Grove, conducted by Rev. Dave Gray, interment in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mardie Tate McKeithen, Pine Grove; a daughter, Susan Denise Rodriguez, Bridge City, TX; two sons, David Bruce and Jerry Lyn McKeithen, both of Pine Grove; three grandchildren, Christopher McKeithen, Israel and Anthony Rodriguez; two sister, Etta Jean O'Reagan, Atlanta, GA and Phyllis McKeithen, Zachary; two brothers and sisters in law, Bob and Barbara and John and Ester McKeithen, all of Baton Rouge; sisters in law and brothers in law, Carol and Winston Brecheen, LaPorte, TX, Pat and Dock Robertson, Tickfaw, Sandra and Al Boullion and Clinton S. Tate Jr., all of Pine Grove; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James Daryl McKeithen; his parents, S.B. "Red" and Mildred McKeithen; his father and mother in law, Clinton and Inez Tate. Wednesday March 12, 2003 Kentwood News Ledger Sara Lane (Sally) Russell Holloway Sara Holloway died Thursday, January 16, 2003 after a fight with lung cancer. She was 65, a native of Yazoo City, MS, and a resident of Monroe, TN. Religious services were private. She is survived by two daughters, Stacie Lane Holloway, Monroe, TN and Laurie E. Holloway of Nashville; two granddaughters, Kimberly D. Holloway, Prarieville and Katherine M. Holloway, Baton Rouge; a sister, Maridel Russell, Jackson, MS; a brother and sister in law, Dr. Frank "Buddy" and Donna Russell, Salem, Ore; a daughter in law, Susan and Hal Hopper, Prarieville; and special friends, Deanna Lankford, Nashville and Dorothy Birch, Kentwood; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, David, her parents, Delphin D. and Mary Robert Hill Russell. She raised four children in Baton Rouge, Kentwood and Clinton, before moving to Tennessee in 2001. She also returned to school to become a nurse and worked at the East Louisiana State Hospital. She loved to laugh and was an avid reader. To honor her life, her daughters began "Mom's Books," a program which provides new books to small libraries in Tennessee and other states where her many friends live. James Alfred Smith James Alfred Smith died at 6:20am on Monday, March 3, 2003 at Earl K. Long Memorial Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was 63 years old, a native of Garnett, KS and a resident of Amite. Graveside services were held at Amite Memorial Gardens. He is survived his wife, Lee Sauls Smith; one daughter, Joyce McDaniel, Amite; two sons, James Smith, Wesson, MS, Terry Smith, Amite; three sisters, Mary Davidson, Chesbrough, Alma Smith, Walker, Rita Bailey, Lacombe; two brothers, Charles Smith, Chesbrough, Edward Smith, Roxie, MS; five grandchildren; former wife, Lois Cutrer, Amite. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clarita Smith; one brother, Henry Smith. Polly Dees Newman Felker Polly Dees Newman Felker died on Friday, February 28, 2003 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. She was 67, a native of Koscuisko, MS and a resident of Kentwood. She was a cafeteria manager for the St. Helena Parish School Board. Religious services were held at New Zion Baptist Church, Kentwood, conducted by Rev. Buddy Hampton, interment in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth d. Felker, Kentwood; a daughter, Judy Newman, Madisonville; five sons, Butch and Ray Newman, both of Houston, TX, Ray Newman, Clinton, Joe Newman, Kernersville, NC, and Burrell Newman, USMC, San Diego, CA; two sisters, Zula Louque and Nell Partin, both of Jackson; five brothers, Horace and Harvey Dees, both of Greenberg, Jimmy Dees, Kociusko, MS, Tommy Shuff, AR, and Johnny W. Shuff, Jackson; four step children, William C. Felker, Jackson, Patricia Felker, Kentwood, Jimmy Felker, Zachary, and Rebecca Felton, Magnolia, MS; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Gladys White Vandenburg Gladys White Vandenburg died at 10:20pm on Wednesday, march 5, 2003 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. She was 88 years old and a resident of Kentwood. Religious services were held at Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood. The services were conducted by Rev. Tim Daniels. She is survived by one brother, Ambrose White, Kentwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Vandenburg; son, J.S. Vandenburg. Logan Blake Criswell Logan was stillborn on Sunday, March 2 in Visalia, CA. He was the son of Blake and Nelia Criswell of Hanford, CA. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Jose and Pereira, of Riverdale, CA, maternal great grandmother, Laura Cotta, Hanford, CA; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Mary Criswell of Kentwood, uncle and aunt, Brent and Cheryl of Pumpkin Center, and cousin Claire. She was 73, a native of Yazoo City, MS, a former resident of McComb, MS and a resident of Amite. She was a housewife. Religious services were held at the First Baptist Church in Amite, conducted by Rev. Bradley Rushing and Rev. David Millican, interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine Ridge. She is survived by her husband, James C. Pray Jr., Amite; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Charlotte Pray, Pine Ridge, Tim and Susan Pray, Amite and Chuck and Sandra Mangrum, McComb, MS; five grandchildren, Kristi and Turner; Gabe, Cade and Zach Pray, and Jamie Mangrum; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Steven Pray and Mason Turner; and two sisters, Clarice Atkins, Baton Rouge and Annette Smith, Natchez, MS. Wednesday March 26, 2003 Kentwood News Ledger Sarah Mae Felder Sarah Mae Felder died on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at Grandview Health Care in Jasper, GA. She was 87, a native of Tickfaw, a resident of Jasper, GA and a former resident of Kentwood. She was a retired librarian at Kentwood High School. Religious services were held at the Kentwood United Methodist Church, Kentwood, conducted by Rev. Percy Frazier, interment in the Felder Campground Ceremony in Summit, MS.[sic] She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Frances and Vincent John Mansfield; and two sisters, Catherine Burns and Margaret Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.G. "Gabe" Felder and a brothers, Arthur McCarroll. Ida Lou Lea Sanders Ida Lou Lea Sanders died at 3:15a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at her residence. She was 71, a native of Kentwood and a resident of Denham Springs. Religious services were held at Seal Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Charles Brady, interment at Evergreen Memorial Park in Denham Springs. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey and Charles Wascom and Kimberly and Mike Cedotal; a son and daughter-in-law, James Maurice and DeLila Sanders, all of Denham Springs; three sisters, Freda Holiday, Franklinton, Alma Dykes, Kentwood, and Faye Morris, Osyka, MS; seven grandchildren, Will, Josh and Rebekah Wascom, Tori and Justin Cedotal, Anthony and Taylor Sanders; a special niece, Sandra Wesley including other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Sanders; her parents, Homer Allen Sr. and Mary Price Lea; and four brothers, Harold, Robert, David and Homer Lea Jr. Pallbearers were her son, sons-in-law and grandsons. John Herbert Spears John Herbert Spears died at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Regency, He was 70, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Kentwood. He was retired from the La. Dept. of Agriculture with 30 years service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Religious services were held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Conducted by Rev. Louis Boyd, interment in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood. He is survived by a sister, Lynne D. Spears, Baton Rouge; a brother and sister-in-law, Leon C. Jr. and Dorothy Spears of Baker; a sister, Bettye S. Greene of Baton Rouge; four nephews and spouses, Dale and Melanie Spears, Marc J. and Cindy Greene, Kent A. and Shelby Greene, and Van Greene; two nieces and their spouses, Sharon and Mike Parker, Janet and Mike Smith; four great-nieces; four great-nephews and a great-great nephew. Pallbearers were Kent and Van Greene, Dale Spears, Mike and Benjamin Parker and Mike Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Leon C. Spears.
