Anzalone Linda M. Anzalone died Thursday, May 22, 2003, she was known as "Mac" to her many friends and family. She was 82, a native of Pike County, MS and a resident of Independence. A memorial service was held at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gene and Theresa "Tere" Anzalone, Baton Rouge and Dan Anzalone, Independence; two sisters, Artis "Pete" Gardner, Bay Springs, MS and Billie J. Hemphill, McComb, MS; a sister-in-law, Elma Brakefield, Atlanta, GA; and a granddaughter, Brittany Anzalone, Houston, TX. She is survived {sic} by her parents, J.N. and Nellie McDaniel; her husband, Frank S. Anzalone; two sisters, Nellie Lampkin and Antee Beecher; a brother, Noel McDaniel; and a grandson, Brian Anzalone. Mac moved to Independence, at age 21 to begin her career as a RN at Lallie Kemp Charity Hospital where she worked for over 30 years. She was a devoted nurse, she formed lifelong friendships and touched many lives throughout her career. Her strength, both professionally and personally will be cherished forever in our hearts. Illness may have slowed her down, but even in her most trying times, she never lost her sense of humor. Wilson Vardaman Walker Wilson Vardaman Walker died Monday, May 19, 2003 at his residence in Hammond. He was 69 and a native of Kenwood. Religious services were held at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Jewell Travis Walker, Hammond; a son, Randy Walker, Hammond; a daughter, Rita Pittman, Covington; four grandchildren, Brandon and Mallory Walker and Kyle and Lilly Pittman; two sisters, Joyce Frazier, Kentwood and Shirley VonCannon, Johnson City, Tenn; and a brother, Jerry Walker, Denham Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Vardaman and Zoe Fussell Walker; and a son, Earl Brent Walker. In lieu of flowers, it was requested that donations be made to Natalbany Baptist Church Building Fund or to North Oaks Hospice. Wednesday June 11, 2003 Kentwood News Ledger Ernest "Buster" Dykes Ernest "Buster" Dykes died at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at S. Tammany Hospital in Covington. He was 81, a resident of the Wilmer community, a retired dairyman and a member of Wilmer Baptist Church. Religious services were held at Wilmer Baptist Church, conducted by Eld. Richard Magee, Eld. Duane Ball, Rev. Jerry Cox and Rev. /Stan Statham, interment in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Lexie Crowe Dykes, Wilmer; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Lillie and Milton and Pat Dykes, all of Franklinton; four daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dewitt Strickland, Kentwood; Betty and Wayne Brooks, Tylertown, MS, Janie and Kendall Smith, Mary and Henry Tate, all of Franklinton; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four grandchildren. Eva S. Knight Eva S. Knight died at 1:09 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. She was 92, a native of Gurdon, AR and a resident of Amite. Religious services were held at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, conducted by Rev. John D. Stewart, interment in the Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Gloria and Paul Richardson, Chesbrough, and Loretta K. Binder, Amite; a son, Sam Knight, Amite; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Knight and her parents, John Henry and Ida Kay Scoggins; and three brothers. Wednesday June 18, 2003 Kentwood News Ledger Clyde E. Smith, Jr. Clyde E. Smith, Jr. died June 3 at his home in Navarre, Florida at the age of 71. He was a retired Air Force Sergeant. A VietNam Veteran, Smith served two terms during the VietNam War. A memorial service was held Saturday, June 7 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, Navarre, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Smith of Navarre, Fla; three sons, Robert, James, and Roger Smith all of Fort Worth, Texas, a sister, Myrtle Blades of Kentwood, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friends, Richard and Lorraine Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde E. Smith and Beulah Allen Smith; eight brothers, Everett Smith, Fla., Edgar, Clifton, George, Robert, Reuben, Norman and Huey Smith, all of Kentwood. Mary Nell Cain Woodard Mary Nell Cain Woodard died at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. She was 82, a native and resident of Kentwood. She was a housewife. Religious services were held at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, conducted by Rev. Percy McFrazier and Rev. Mike Woodard, interment in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Woodard Sr.; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Woody and Mary Lee Woodard, Roy and Gary Woodard; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Sue Woodard, all from Kentwood,m Patricia and John Lester, Loranger; four grandchildren, Sam, Casey and Ashley Woodard and Brandon Lester; a sister, Tullie Dean, Kentwood; a brother and sister-in-law, Jew and Martha Cain, McComb, MS. She was 68, a native of Poplarville, MS and a resident of Kentwood. She was a housewife. Religious services were held at Greenlaw Baptist Church, Kentwood, interment in Tangipahoa Cemetery, Tangipahoa. She is survived by her husband, Richard Brooks, Kentwood; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina Brooks and Chuck Carter, Oconee, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Patti Brooks and Chad and Denise Brooks, all of Kentwood; six grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Samantha and C. J. Brooks, and Seth and Zach Carter; two brothers and sister-in-law Coward and Brenda Smith and Tommy Smith, all of Poplarville, MS; a sister and two brother-in-law, Josie and M.J. Margie Ingulia Nevills Margie Ingulia Nevills died on Sunday, June 15, 2003 at her residence. She was 60, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Kentwood. She was a housewife. She is survived by her husband, Don Nevills; a daughter and son-in-law, Zoe Lopitz and Eric Todd Cassel, all of Kentwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dotty Richard, Jefferson; three grandchildren, Matthew and Melanie Richard, and Jacob Cassel; two brothers, Raymond Ingulia, Aberdine, MS and Jerry Ingulia, Destrahan; a sister, Joann Renaldo, Vista, CA and her mother, Margaret Ingulia, Greensburg.
