She was 60, a native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Helena Parish Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant. Religious services were held at Pine Ridge United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Ken Norton, interment in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Jo C. Ricks, McComb, MS and Kathy C. and Chris Wales, Baton Rouge; a brother, David Carruth, Kentwood; two nieces, Kristen W. Eichholz, Columbus, OH and Rondi Ricks, Brandon, MS; three nephews, Maj. Kirk Wales, USMC, Quantico, VA, Korey Wales, Baton Rouge, and Rob Ricks, Salt Lake City, UT; two great-nieces and six great-nephews whom she adored, a special aunt and uncle, Lloyd and Frances Carruth, Zachary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ransom and Yvonne Bryant Carruth and an infant brother, Ransom D. Carruth Jr. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kentwood and a member of the Greensburg Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. ANNIE LEA PHILLIP DUGGAN Annie Lea Phillips Duggan died at 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was 62, a native of Independence and a resident of Roseland. She was a housewife. Religious services were held at Pine Ridge United Methodist Church, Pine Ridge, conducted by Rev. Starrett Cleveland, interment in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Malvin E. Duggan Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Phillips, all of Roseland; two grandchildren, Victoria and Chris Phillips; two sisters, Brenda Gill, Walker and Jessie Stevens, Satsuma; four brothers, Larry and John Phillips, both of Kentwood, Milton Phillips, Osyka, JS and James Phillips, Watson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gracie Dean Edwards; two brothers, Thomas and Alvie Phillips and her parents, Helen Pauline and James Blaine Phillips. Lea died at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2003 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton. He was 93, a native of Greensburg and a resident of Kentwood. He was a retired bus driver for the Tangipahoa Parish School Board. Religious services were held at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, conducted by Rev. Barry Cutrer, interment in the Hyde Cemetery, Chesbrough. He is survived by his wife, Laura B. Lea, Kentwood; three children, Mary Crawford, Mountain View, AR, Ginger Lea, Kentwood and Steve Lea, Stonebridge, TN; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. JESSIE TRAVIS STRONG Jessie Travis Strong died at 5:47 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was 66, a native of St. Helena Parish and a resident of Kentwood. July 23, 2003 Kentwood News Ledger NOLAN ARCHIE BOOTY Nolan Archie Booty died Friday, July 11, 2003. He was 78, a native of Kentwood and a resident of Washington Parish. Mr. Booty grew up in the Kentwood Community and was a graduate of Spring Creek High School. He was a Sergeant in both the Army and the Marines. He served in the Army during ?World War II and in the Marines during the Korean War. Religious services were held at Schoen Funeral Home, Covington with interment in Ellis Cemetery, Franklinton. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Schwehm Booty; daughters, Blanche M. Booty, Jessica Booty Oglesby, Lynne Booty Pesquie; grandchildren, Donnie and Katie Pesquie, Bree and Jake Oglesby; sons-in-law, Donald Pesquie Jr. and Jonathan Oglesby; sister, Blanche Opal Booty Goebel; numerous nieces and nephews. He was 56, a resident of Amite and a native of Tangipahoa Parish. He was a truck driver owner/operator. Religious services were held Wilmer Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Richard Magee with interment in Wilmer Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Gwyn R. Alford of Amite; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Angela Alford, Kentwood, and Scott and Deborah Alford, McComb, MS; 4 grandchildren, Scott "Bucky" Alford, Stormie Hodges, Dusty Alford, and Taylor Alford; his mother Dorothy Alford, Amite; a sister and a brother-in-law, Linda and Donnie Smith, Amite; and a numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Leamon T. Alford, Sr. and a brother Marshall Alford.
