She was a Springfield native. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rosco Haltom Sr.; son Rosco Holtam Jr.; and sister Ludia Hill. WARREN ALBEE HURST KENTWOOD - Warren Albee Hurst, 78, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, Miss. He was a postmaster and auditor, a U.S. Air Force veteran and prisoner of war during World War II and a native of St. Helena Parish. Survivors include his wife, children and grandchildren. NOTARIANO Sam J. Notariano, 83, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at North Oaks Medical Center. He was a native of Hammond and served on the Holy Ghost school board and parish council. He also served as president of the Holy Name Society and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and annual Holy Ghost Fair. He was a retired building contractor and a Hammond native. A native of New Orleans and a former resident of Hammond, she graduated from Hammond High School in 1948 and received a bachelor's of arts degree from Southeastern Louisiana College in 1952. She taught in the Calcasieu Parish School System for 30 years before retiring in 1985. Her family described her as "a loving, devoted and beloved wife and mother." Survivors include her husband, L.J. Perkins of DeQuincy; a son, Dennis A. Perkins of Dhahran, Saudi, Arabia; four sisters, Mary S. Whynot of San Antonio, Texas, Vita S. Hapiuk of Groveland, Calif., Jennie S. His family described him as a naturalist who enjoyed the beauty of a starry night and the splashes of a cold river. "He loved his dog, Easy, like his only child," they said. "He could look out into this big world and see things no one else could see. His beauty ran deep in his soul as did his faith in God." He was a native of New Orleans and worked in warehousing. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Pitre; two daughters, Jacqueline J. and Madison Pitre, both of Albany; and one brother, Jack C. RICKY PAUL PERRILLIOUX ST. ROSE - Ricky Paul Perrillioux, 42, died Friday, June 28, 2002. He was a native of Hahnville and an employee of Total Transportation Inc. Survivors include his parents, Oliver and Lynn Perrillioux; three sons, Dustin, Scotty and Ricky Perrillioux Jr.; two daughters, Brandi and Katie Perrillioux; seven brothers, Oliver Jr., Allen, Neal, Bruan, Gary and Corey Perrillioux and Benny Williams; and five sisters, Rita Horn, Regina Rodriguez, Jessica St. Pierre, Mary Williams and Stephanie Williams. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Neal Williams; a brother, Donnie Glynn; and his grandparents. Visitation will be today from 4 until 9 p.m. at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland and Monday from 8 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Hilary Catholic Church. He will be entombed in St. Hilary Mausoleum. JOSEPH MICHAEL VALENTI Joseph Michael Valenti, 88, died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at North Oaks Medical Center. He was a native of Hammond, a farmer, a cabinet maker and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia V. King of Hammond; a son, Nace Valenti of Ponchatoula; a sister, Lena Patti of Hammond; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Joseph and Cecilia Graziano Valenti; his wife, Angelina Musacchia Valenti; a son, Peter Joseph Valenti; brothers Sam, Frank and Nunzio Valenti; and sisters Frances Greco, Annie Nero and Mary Scardina. The funeral was Saturday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, and burial was in Rose Memorial Cemetery. Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond was in charge.
