He was a native of Poplarville, Miss., a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of God, served on the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and was appointed senior adviser for the state Department of Transportation and Development. Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Hall, Hammond, Mary Anne Mulkey, Natalbany, Elsie N. Smith, Clinton; four sons, Harold B. Persick, 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Temple Hospital, Killeen. He was a native of Holden and was a retired Fort Hood firefighter with 20 years of service. He had also retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service. Survivors include four sons, Wayne J. Persick, Lingleville, Texas, Robert W. Persick, Elkridge, Md., and Gary W. and Joseph Percy Persick, both of Killeen; two daughters, Ginnie Mize, Yorktown, Va., and Debbie Freeman, Killeen; two brothers, Clifton Persick, Baton Rouge, and Willie Persick, Holden; and a sister, Ruby LeBlanc, Albany; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. DYKES AMITE - Travis H. Dykes, 77, a native of Kentwood and resident of Amite, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was served with the U.S. Navy in World War II and later worked as an investigator.
