She was 79 and a native of Hammond. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home chapel, Hammond, 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by a Dominican priest. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery. Survived by two brothers, Emile Accomando, LaPlace, and John Accomando, Baton Rouge; and two sisters, Laura A. Jones, Hammond, and Rose A. Trapen, Tickfaw. Preceded in death by parents, Sam and Josephine Iverstine Accomando; and a brother, Joe T. John Thomas Accomando, Sr., 82, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at home with family. He was born November 2, 1929, in Hammond, Louisiana, son of the late Josephine Iverstine Accomando and Salvator Accomando. He married Shirley Nathalee Steidtmann on August 14, 195l. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his discharge, he was employed by Delta Air Lines for 41 years, retiring in 1995 as Station Manager in Baton Rouge. After his retirement, he served as an Assistant Sergeant at Arms for the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was a member of the Delta Pioneers, and the Delta Air Lines Station Managers Association. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Nathalee; son, John Thomas Accomando Jr. of New Orleans; granddaughter, Sara Ashley Accomando of Hilton Head SC.; and sisters, Rosie Trapen and Laura Jones both of Hammond, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by sister, Filippina Accomando; and brothers Joe and Emile Accomando. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran University Church, 3235 Dalrymple Dr. Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Visitation from 10 A.M.
