Carver Primary School, Gonzales, he died at 8 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2002, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 10, a resident of Gonzales and a native of Hammond. He was a Webelos Scout in Den 8 of Cub Scout Pack 65 and a member of the Carver 4-H Club. He loved to sing and play baseball and soccer. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. He is survived by his parents, Todd and Rebecca Hanna Acosta, Gonzales; a brother, Avery Acosta, Gonzales; maternal grandparents, Fred and Linda Palmer, Baton Rouge, and Phil and Faye Hanna, St. Amant; paternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Morrel, Prairieville, and Sidney and Theresa Acosta, Baton Rouge; great-grandmothers, Margaret Bryant, Baton Rouge, Lorena Gautreaux, Gonzales, and Louise Acosta, Baton Rouge; and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Dr. James H. Bryant, John Ray and Mary Hanna, Windom Gautreaux and George Acosta. Pallbearers will be Lee Acosta, Kevin Acosta, Chuck Nickens, David Simpson, Mackall Acheson III and Brian Palmer. Honorary pallbearers are his fellow Cub Scouts, Bryant, Bourgeois, Zachary Braud, Clint Hardy, Logan Mayers and Mitchell Mire. Preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Raymond Acosta Sr.; and parents, Roby and Charlene Toney. Survivors include her children, Raymond Acosta and wife Sally, and Kathy Couvillion and husband CJ, all of Baton Rouge, Andrea Acosta, of Breaux Bridge, and Christopher Acosta and wife Sonia, of Kentwood; a sister, Fay Taylor and husband Ken, of Gonzales; a brother, Jerry Toney and wife Julia, of Madison, Miss.; grandchildren, Jessica Thomas, David DeRossette, Timothy Acosta, Sarah Davis, Stephen Couvillion, Raymond DeRossette, Christopher Acosta Jr., Shaa Acosta, John Santos and J.T.
