A loving husband to our Mom for 68 years and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, he went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004. He was 89, born April 9, 1915, in Independence. He was a resident of Wascom, Texas, and former resident of Zachary. Visitation at Milldale Baptist Church, Zachary, from 1 p.m. until religious service at 3 p.m. Thursday, conducted by Brother Jimmy Roberson and Brother Danny Greig. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by a son, Billy Ray and wife Brenda Almand; daughter, Susan and husband Michael Rubin; four granddaughters, Sheri Welborn, Jennifer McGraw, Tonya Johnson and Teri Woods; six grandsons, Jeff, Randy, Matt and Andy Almand, Jason Rubin and Brian Hoffman; 11 great-grand- children; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Lucille Lalumandier and Doris Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Annie Fore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Melson Almand; two sons, Jerry and Alton L. Almand Jr.; and grandson, Davey Almand. Pallbearers will be Andy, Cliff, Brett, Brad, Jeff and Randy Almand, Greg McGraw and Billy Welborn. Honorary pallbearer is Herbert Hanna. He was a member of Milldale Baptist Church.
