He was 46. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, with a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Religious services at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Dean Martin. Interment in Leroy Amato Family Cemetery. Survived by wife, Diane Bonnette Amato, Independence; four sons, Vinnie Amato, Darrell Amato, Jeremiah Amato and Adam Amato, all of Independence; two sisters, Judy Husser, Springfield, and Jo Ann Terrebonne, Independence; and a brother, H.J. Amato, Independence. Preceded in death by parents, James and Frances Fontana Amato. He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 4/19/2012 AMATO, MARY TORTORICE Mary Tortorice Amato passed away at the Grace Health and Rehabilitation Center in Slaughter, LA, on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. She was 86, a resident of Zachary and a native of Independence, La. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Devin Holley, three sons, Sonny Amato, E.J. Amato and Wayne Amato and wife Peggy, two sisters, Rose Delany and Carmella Barbier, a brother, Joe Tortorice, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Henry Amato, her parents, Rose and Tony Tortorice, her sister, Josie Ingrassia, and her brother, Frank Tortorice. Visitation will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4348 Lee St., Zachary, on Thursday, April 19, from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, celebrated by the Rev. M. Jeffery Bayhi with recitation of the Rosary at 10 am. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House or Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital.
