He was 78. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday and in the chapel from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in Bankston Cemetery. Survived by a son, Mark L. Apperson Sr., Ponchatoula; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a brother, Milford Apperson of Marrero. Preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Melling Apperson; a son, George Apperson; three sisters, Edith Gaeto, Imogene Ramirez and Ruth King; and a brother, Chester Apperson.
