(December 5, 1941 - May 15, 2013) Age 71, a former resident of Kenner for 30 years and a current resident of Hammond, Alvin passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was a push boat captain with American Commercial Barge Line, with 30 years of dedicated service. Alvin served our country in the U.S. Navy, during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion. Alvin leaves behind his wife, Patricia Arnold; daughter, Janice McCullen and husband Randy; son, James W. Gill, Jr., along with his grandchildren, Jennifer Guillory, Brianna Lynn, James III and James W. Gill IV; honorary grandchild, Dustin Fonrouge; great-grandchildren, Bailey Shyann Guillory. The Brewers later went on to the world championship and were great attraction during the war era.
