Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction?" Hosea 13:14. Wilbert August passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at the age of 63. He was a native of Independence and a resident of Baton Rouge. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired employee of ExxonMobil, Wilbert enjoyed sailing his sailboat, traveling and drawing. He will be most remembered for his generous spirit and stability to his family and friends. Visiting and religious services will be held at Higher Ground Outreach Ministries on Tuesday, Nov. 9, officiated by Bishop Rickey Washington. Interment will be at Port Hudson National Cemetery. He will leave to cherish his memory a daughter, Sadairea M. August; grandson, Joshua B. August; six brothers, Clarence August and wife Walterine, Gregory August and wife Dinna, the Rev. Ricky August and wife Tammi, the Rev. Donald Frank Sr. and wife Kaprina, Melvin Williams and Jerome Williams and wife Marilyn; and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvina Williams August and Willard A. August; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Lucille Williams; paternal grandparents, Adam and Pauline August; and a brother, Alvin Williams. Arrangements provided by Richardson Funeral Home of Clinton.
