He was born April 30, 1913, in Puerto Rico, the son of the late Manuel and Antonia Collazo Balado. Mr. Balado was a graduate of LSU, an avid LSU fan, an avid hunter and a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He was a retired Tangipahoa Parish school system educator. He is survived by five daughters, Tonita Robertson of Baker, Ginger Daughdrill of Hammond, Sandra Johnson of Ponchatoula, Peggy Balado of Loranger and Kathy Balado of Baton Rouge; three sons, J.E. "Buddy" Balado Jr. of Hammond, Charles Balado of Arcola, and Vance Balado of Ponchatoula; 18 grand- children, 19 great-grandchildren and a brother, Joaquin Collazo of Tampa, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Purvis Balado; a grand- son; a brother, Manuel Balado; and two sisters, Mary Cassasnovas and Antonia Hernandez. Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, April 15, and after 8 a.m. Saturday until 10:30 a.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond. Service will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. Interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to the National Alzheimer Association, 225 N.
