He is a resident of Ponchatoula formerly of Bogalusa. Mr. Bankston is an army veteran of World War II, he received a purple heart and a bronze star. He was a member of Bogalusa Masonic Lodge. He was a life-long resident of Natalbany. He was a retired electrician. For many years he served as deacon, music minister, and he taught Sunday school at Wardline Baptist Church. He served six years on the Tangipahoa Parish School Board and he was a member of the Livingston Masonic Lodge 160 for more than fifty years. He was an avid farmer and dearly loved hunting and fishing. Bro. Allen never met a stranger and all who knew him appreciated his love for quoting scripture. He was also a very gifted genealogist. Allen leaves behind his loving wife, Earline Prevost Bankston; his sons, David Bankston and wife Sandra, and Mark W. DeLee of Ethel; three grandsons, Samuel Micah DeLee of Jackson and fianc_e Stephanie Richardson of Zachary, John Dent Bankston and fiancee Cady Breyel of Roseland, and Joshua Dent DeLee of Lafayette; two granddaughters, Randee Kay DeLee Sartin and husband Cal Sartin of Slaughter and Margaret Louise "Meg" DeLee of Baton Rouge; a great-grandson, Caleb Michael Sartin; an adopted daughter, Terrye Hendry Rhame and husband Jerry Rhame of LaPorte, Texas; granddaughters, Deanna Rhame and Debbie Rhame Moye and husband Tommy Moye; a grandson, Jimmy Rhame; two great-grandsons, Robert LeBlanc and Ryan Moye, all of LaPorte; a dear niece, Kay Mignon Bankston Kolb and husband Frank Kolb; and great-nephews, Eric Kolb, Kyle Kolb and Ivan Kolb, all of Birmingham, Ala.; a devoted cousin, Elaine Hendry Parker and husband John and family of Denham Springs; and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Randall Dent Bankston; mother and father, Lucy Russell and Odis Hendry Bankston; a brother, Odis Hendry Bankston Jr.; mother-in-law, Lynell S. Williams. He gave time and energy to family, friends and community. In order to teach the love of the game and sportsmanship, in 1960 and 1961, he organized the first baseball teams for Jackson children naming them Pints and Half Pints. As a community service, he prepared meals for the Fire Department for a number of years. He was a member of Claire Chennault Basha, 9th Bomb Squadron, 7th Bombardment Group, Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion Post 158, past master of St. Albans Masonic Lodge 028, past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star and member of the administrative board at Jackson United Methodist Church.
