Johnny Marion Bankston Sr. passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004. He was born in Tangipahoa to Levi Houston Bankston, who was of Tangipahoa, and Ruth Lee Vine, who was of Woodville, Miss. Johnny obtained his master's degree from LSU, then accepted a position as the county agricultural extension agent for St. Tammany Parish. He retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the community. He was a prominent contributor to the 4-H program, Louisiana Cattleman's Association, Farm Bureau and St. Tammany Parish Fair Association. He was also a devoted member of the Covington Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Johnny was the beloved husband of Eula Mae Kelly of Pride; and father of Johnny Marion Bankston Jr. of Covington, Janet Lyn Windom of Mustang, Okla., Linda Beth Cruz of Covington and Larry Lane Bankston of Folsom.
