She was 71 and a native of St. Helena Parish. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Hillsdale Baptist Church, Hillsdale, on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Steven Whatley. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery, Hillsdale. She is survived by her husband, Mike Barcia Sr., Baton Rouge; four sons, Louis Thompson, Amite, Jack Thompson, Baton Rouge, Jeff Thompson, Talkeetna, Alaska, and Mike Barcia Jr., Baton Rouge; daughter, Candy Barcia Powell, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Betty Ricks, Kentwood, and Angie Miller, Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Cora Jackson Miller; and two sisters, Mary Brown and Nancy Ensign. He was born on Sunday, May 14, 1916 in Tylertown, Mississippi, son of the late Joseph and Sanda Barcia. Surviving are 4 sons, Joe, Mike, Jim and Charlie Barcia; 3 daughters, Sandra Guidry, Mary Rose Barcia Sherman, Barbara Stevens; 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Katie Catalano Barcia; son, Roy Barcia; grandson, Dennis Barcia; 2 brothers, Sam and Jim Barcia; 3 sisters, Francis Nicosia, Mary Barcia, and Corrina Recile. Friends will be received Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 9:00 am until the religious service begins at 11:00 am at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.
