He was 73 and a native of Independence. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with vigil prayer services at 7 p.m. and Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home chapel, 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Dean Martin. Military graveside services at Colonial Mausoleum on Friday. Survived by his wife, Elzene Robertson Basso, Independence; three sons, Eddie Basso, Timmy Basso and Chuck Basso, all of Independence; two sisters, Mable Michelli, Hammond, and Thelma Brown, Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Stacie Capdeboscq, Chad Basso, Chase Basso and twin granddaughters, LynDee and DeLynn Basso. He was a member of Kentwood Masonic Lodge No. 248, St. Helena Lodge No. 96, Scottish Rite Free Masonry S.J. of Baton Rouge and Acacia Temple, Baton Rouge. She was born September 16, 1929 in Independence, daughter of the late Ray and Goldie Bennett Robertson, and wife of the late Allan Basso. She was a Member of Oak Grove Church of Christ, and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 247 of Independence. She was a retired Supervisor from Hammond State School. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Sandy Misita Basso, Chuck and Patsy Marie Gaupp Basso; and son, Tim Basso; one sister, Ernestine ÒTennieÓ Howes; one brother, Curtis Robertson; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leland "Buddy", Hollis, and Stanley Robertson, and one sister, Carol Cox. Friends will be received Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond from 6 pm til 9 p.m., and after 8 a.m. on Monday until the religious service.
