He was 57 and a native of Independence. Visiting at New Southside Funeral Home, 925 S. 14th St., Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Derrick Kyle. Interment in Butler Cemetery, Amite. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Battiste; son, Alfred Lott; sisters, Jessie Mae Walker, of Independence, and Johnnie Mae Perry, of Amite; and brothers, Albert Battiste and Larry Battiste, both of Kentwood, and John Earnest Battiste, of Independence. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Battiste; mother, Essie Mae Perkins; sister, Earline McCoy; and brother, Donald James Battiste. Pallbearers will be John Battiste, Alfred Lott, Rodney Walker, John Lee and Julius Battiste. He was a graduate of LSU and received his certificate of training from H.J. Wilson.
