BAYGENTS, HENRY ALTON
Henry Alton Baygents, 66, of Kentwood, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at North
Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. Henry was born on Tuesday, May 11, 1943, in
Wayne County, Miss. He was a retired butcher and store owner. Surviving are
his wife of 44 years, Mary Alice Reid Baygents; father and stepmother,
Henry Lee Baygents and Rachel Baygents; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and
Jacob Purvis; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason Carl and Liz Baygents,
Travis Lee and Agnes Baygents, and Tommy and Heather Baygents; son, Terry
Linn Baygents; sisters, Hilda Lee Cochran, Dola Ard and Debbie Roberts;
brother, Jesse Marion Baygents; stepsister, Janice Craddock; stepbrother,
Tommy Pryor; and grandchildren, Beth, Becky, Travis, Chelsey, Cassie and
Christopher Baygents, Emma and Ethan Purvis, Tyler, Hannah and Madison
McDonald, Kristen Smith and Tiffany Richardson. He was preceded in death by
his mother, Gladys Douglas Baygents; brother, Wallace Douglas Baygents; and
sister, Margaret Louise Scuggins. Friends will be received at Harry
McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Sunday, Feb. 28, from 6 p.m. to
10 p.m. Visiting resumes on Monday from 8 a.m. until services in the
funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. There will be a graveside service Monday
afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Baygents Family Cemetery in Waynes County. An
