JOHN H. Funeral services for Dr. John H. Beatty of Amite, who died Wednesday, June 14, were held Friday from the Brown Funeral Home in Amite. Interment was in Amite cemetery. Born and reared in Greenwell, Ill., he moved to Amite at the age of 14. He entered the practice of dentistry in Amite, succeeding Dr. Dan Beatty, his grandfather, and Dr. Chas. Beatty, his father. He was a member of the Tangipahoa Parish school board for 22 years. He served as mayor of Amite and president of the Amite Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Beatty married the former Lottie Peck of New Orleans, who survived him. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Emily Beatty of the English department faculty, Southeastern Louisiana College, and Mrs. Adeline Beatty Gay, teacher in the Amite Grammer School for 25 years; two brothers, David L. Beatty of Dallas, Tex, and William D. Beatty of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Gray, Mohawk, Ariz., and Mrs. Francis Preckwinkle, Portland, Ore. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 11/17/2000 BEATTY, JOHN HENRY A native and resident of Hammond, he died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at his home. He was 41. Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday. Religious services were at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Hammond, at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by a Dominican priest. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Survived by his mother, Lydia Ramagos Beatty; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Mayson Foster and Katie and Rusty Wilson, all of Hammond; a niece, Julie Foster Guzzardo; a nephew, John Mayson Foster; and four great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Henry J. "Bud" Beatty. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Ghost Catholic Church Building Fund, 601 N.
