Otto F. Beckemeyer Jr., 59, and a resident of Hammond, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was born on Friday, Nov. 19, 1948, in New Orleans. Mr. Beckemeyer Jr. was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Hammond. He worked for 30 years with the Social Security Department in Natchitoches, Lake Charles, New Orleans and Hammond. Surviving are his wife, Dera Beckemeyer; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis and LeAndra Beckemeyer, of Howe, Texas, and Larry and Tammy Beckemeyer, of Portland, Ore.; brother-in-law, Oneil "Snap" Decoteau; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Dolores Sr. and Otto Beckemeyer; and brother, Frederick Louis Beckemeyer. Friends were received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Ed Everitt, O.P., celebrant. Entombment in Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hammond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, P.O.
