BENAVIDEZ, MARIA DEL REFUGIO
Maria Del Refugio Benavidez, 88 years old of Independence, died Sunday, 
December 12, 2010, at her residence.  She was born on June 15, 1922, in El 
Calabos, TX.  Surviving are her daughter, Eudelia Villarael of Muleshoe, TX; 
son, Antonio Martinez of Sebastian, TX; daughter, Juana Martinez of Houston, 
TX; son, Francisco Martinez of Sebastian, TX; daughter, Ramona Martinez of 
Lafayette, LA; daughter, Andrea Carrion of Independence, LA; 13 grand-
children; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren.  She is 
preceded in death by her parents, Andrea Rodriguez and Jose Benavidez; son, 
Jose Martinez; daughter, Martina Martinez; husband, Reynaldo Martinez; and 
2 sisters.  Friends will be received Wednesday, December 15, 2010, from 
5:00 PM till 10:00 PM at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.
Visitation will continue Thursday, December 16, 2010, from 10:00 AM until 
the funeral service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will 
follow in the Colonial Cemetery in Independence.  An on-line guest book is
